Q: What school (if any) did you attend to learn about wine?  Where did you find your most valuable training on the subject?

A: a: International Wine Center, New York

b: On the job training, working the best restaurants in New York City, also working with the best people of that time: Josh Wesson, Ray Wellington, Roger Dagorn 

 

Q: What is your favorite wine website or blog?  

A: I don't have a favorite, but I love the internet. I wish I had a tool this powerful when I breaking in. Everyone was self taught in the late 70's and early 80's 

Q: What appellation do you see as a front-runner for the 2010 vintage?  

A: Anything Italian, especially the south

Q: What are your favorite wine tools?  

A: a. All the amazing glassware available

b. The decanter - the most under-utilized weapon in the Sommeliers arsenal. 

Q: Please share your most useful and interesting tasting procedures.  

A: It is simple. Wines that have the purity of fruit and representing varietal and place. Oak management must be secondary allowing the place and fruit to be center stage. Over-oaked wines are making a bad name for the industry.

Q: Do you have any wine idols?

A: All the incredible owners, winemakers and vineyard managers that are dedicated to making the best wine possible
